Eight Below and Unfortunately Paul Walker.

I caught the end of the commercial for “Eight Below” the other day. I got really excited because I love Disney movies about animals, specifically dogs. Six Siberian huskies and 2 Alaskan malamutes star in this movie. These two types of dogs are pretty much on my top favorite list of dogs.

I talked to Mike (the editor of this/my boyfriend) about “Eight Below” later that day and he told me that I must have missed the entire commercial because an actor that I am really not a fan of is starring in the movie. I asked him who could be so bad that they could ruin an entire movie about Siberian Huskies?? He told me. Paul Walker.

He was right, Paul Walker could in fact ruin any movie for me, even one about Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes.

I am very dissapointed that they casted such a horrible actor for this movie because the plot sounds really cool and the dogs themselves are adorable.

According to the Washington Post, “Eight Below” “is inspired by the true story of eight brave dogs who struggled to survive in below-freezing temperatures near the South Pole after they had to be left behind. But it took many more dogs to act out the difficult scenes in the movie that opens tomorrow. That's because each actor-dog had help from other dogs who performed stunts and pulled the sleds. In all, more than 30 dogs were used to portray the film's eight canine characters.”

Another important fact about this article is that many of the dogs in this movie were rescued from all over the country and then given a home… and starring roles in movies like these.

I think the movie came out yesterday in theaters, if you can get past Paul Walker and his AWFUL acting, give it a try, for the dogs at least. :-)

Well, I should be heading out. I have three tests to study for this weekend. Wish me luck!!!

Hey Cara, I have to disagree with you on the Paul Walker thing, cause I ADORE him, but the movie was GREAT!!! I want to get a Husky SO bad and even more so now then ever. Bring the tissues if you see it though, it is a sad one!!!
