May Update

It has been awhile, so I thought I would update a bit. Here is a picture of Emily. She is doing well. She has some allergies right now, but I think she will be okay. She is a tough cookie. She has significantly improved at least behavoir wise since we moved here, which is pretty great.

Here is Ender with his bone. This picture was taken awhile ago though, because his tummy has been so obnoxious, that he is not allowed anything other than his dog food. In fact, I am considering putting him on this anti allergin diet for 6 weeks that could maybe help with his allergies. Not sure if it really will though. Have any of you had experience with dogs with lots of allergies? How about dogs who have allergies AND had parvo?
In other dog news, my apartment complex actually built a dog park in our complex! It is an enclosed area, with nothing but trees, and fun things to smell. Soon they will be adding things like bags for dog waste, etc. I am really excited about it though, because I know my pups will love it.

Here is a picture of Mike and I together for his birthday on Cinco de Mike-o (Mayo). We went to this place nearby called Texican. We are not celebrating his birthday for real until Saturday though, when he is completely done with finals.
I had the wait staff sing Happy Birthday to mike, to embarass him. By the looks of the picture it looks like it worked. Note: he had no idea the waitress put the crown on him until about 20 minutes later. It was fantastic.

How are you all doing??

Zaidie - Adorable Wesite Pup

This adorable little Westie is named Zaidie, a picture recieved by one of my readers, Wendy. Zaidie is "the other love" of her life . One of the photos is obviously one of the cutest Christmas photos of all time, and the other is typical westie amazingness. Wendy says he is one year old in the Christmas photo but in the first one he is only 4 months old. She also claims he is 100% clown and that she adores him. Who wouldn't?? Zaidie reminds me a lot of Ender for obvious reasons. Now I need to go spend time with my westie pups and give them kisses.

Natalie Pocta Beltie

Natalie wrote in about her Beltie, or what she thinks is a Beltie. She adopted her about 6 months ago and thought at first she might be a corgi sheltie mix, but when she saw some of the beltie pictures on my blog, she thought maybe that is what her dog was too. She says her dog is very calm and reserved, as well as playful. What do you think? Do you think she could pass for a Beltie?

Erik East's Beltie - 4 (Her Name)

Erik sent in a cute picture of his Beltie (beagle sheltie mix). I have been getting a lot of e-mails in the last week or so about the Belties for some reason. So I am going to have a series of posts. If I get anything wrong I apologize, but I did work over 14 hours today. haha.

Is there any breed you randomly found out about recently? Do you have a mixed breed pup? If so, what do you think it's mixes are?

All the Puppies Love Dean!

I know, I know, I have not updated in a really long time. I am sorry.

Things have been great though. Mike and I are really enjoying Austin and everything it has to offer. Emily and Ender do as well.

Mike is hard at work in his graduate studies in film at UT Austin. I continue to work in search engine marketing and am making a lot of friends at work. I really love my job, even though it can be stressful at times.

Let me do an update by month.

December 2008: Mike and I celebrated the holidays with his family. They stayed at our place for about 2 weeks. We had a fabulous time. Ender and Emily got to play with their "cousin" Hunter (Mike's brother's dog) and Chloe (Mike's parents dog). I did not give any one food poisoning with my FIRST Christmas dinner either. Although several of us did get the flu.

January 2009: Mike and I celebrated our 5th anniversary. We made home made pizza together, went to a great brunch, strolled the UT campus and fed squirrels and went to a golf driving range.

February 2009: So far this month we have gotten sick again, and worked hard (me in work, him in school). We are celebrating Valentine's Day this coming saturday because we did not feel well enough to do it on the 14th.

Let me update you with some more photos:

Mike and Stephen at the Rockets game. We got to see them go into double overtime and WIN!

There was actually snow in Austin for one night! Woo hoo!

Also the puppies dressed up as presents on Christmas!

I will try to get more pictures up later. I hope you enjoy this!

Pilgrim and Indian Puppies

It Is Almost Time for Thanksgiving - Get Ready!

I hope you all are having a great fall. I am excited for Thanksgiving. Not only for the 4 day weekend and great food, but I am excited to spend time with family :-)

I will be visiting Mike's family for Thanksgiving. We are driving about 6 hours away and will get to take our pups to hang out with Mike's brothers pup. They got along pretty well last time, so I am sure they will have fun.

Ender keeps having tummy problems, and we are pretty sure it is just allergies, but can never be sure. I wish he could just tell us what was wrong :-(

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

It Has Been Awhile

Cute Puppies 1, originally uploaded by Xentri.

It has definitely been awhile since I updated. Sorry everyone. Life has been really busy and I have been spending all my free time trying to enjoy Austin.

I have been here about 5.5 months and am still loving it. I have a great job, I am making friends, I love the natural beauty of the area and the fun stuff that always seems to be happening around. The only physical thing I miss (aside from friends and family) is actually Trader Joes. haha.

Mike is doing well in school. Right now he is really busy writing 2 30 page papers.

Work is going great for me. The job is everything I love about the career I chose for myself. The co-workers are great, as well as the boss. I am also on the company kickball team and for the first time on Wednesday night we won! haha

Emily and Ender are doing great. Ender has scared as a few times with signs of being sick. We have determined it is mostly food allergies. We put them on some holistic style dog food we found at Whole Foods. Has has been doing better since. Too bad the food is a little more expensive then we are used to.

My camera is broken so I don't have many pictures to update you with. When I get a new one I will try to get a lot of pictures all the time of everything going on. For now you just get pictures of cute puppies.

I hope you all are doing amazing!

Dog Products - A Day at the Spa

In Her "Robe", originally uploaded by Thruhike98.

Dog Products - A Day at the Spa
Don’t ask me why, but I was looking on some dog websites today and saw that there are actual canine spa lines. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised, but it does seem pretty funny to me, especially since I do not even buy spa line products for myself. But after looking at a few sites I did see some good dog products that my dogs may actually need. Having Westie's I am pretty familiar with dog's itchy skin so having some dog products to fix this is definitely a help. I have always used the dog shampoo made for itchy skin at Petco, but I guess if I want more variety I can give my dogs some specialty shampoo to get rid of their itchy skin and perhaps even pamper them.

A lot of these sorts of sites not only have dog shampoo but they also have "fur butter" which is essentially a deep conditioner for their sensitive skin. They also have some insect sprays which are pretty useful in Austin, since there are mosquitoes and fleas everywhere it seems. They even have breath spray, which luckily is not something my dogs need for the most part. But I guess if you need to cover the smell up when guests visit it might be a good idea. They also have stuff to help get rid of your dogs nasty smells, but I guess if you pamper your dog enough with these products you won’t even need that stuff. Hmmm. That is an interesting selling point.

I think I might consider this sort of stuff if their skin conditions get worse, but for now they are getting the basics, like I get for me. But I have heard from several of my readers who say their dogs have terrible skin conditions so I thought you might be interested in these dog products.

Have a great day!!

Bull Creek Dog Park

Look Before You Leap, originally uploaded by austindawn.

If you can believe it, Ender does this all the time in this same spot. Most people are in awe of dogs pictured in this picture doing it, but with Ender they just laugh at him. He is kind of the laughing stock at the park because he thinks he is a big dog and plays like one. haha.

Bull Creek Dog Park

Labrador Retriever, originally uploaded by TwoEvL.

The water is deep here and only labs and golden's seem to go into to retrieve things. haha. I suppose others do as well, but Ender and Emily want nothing to do with water that deep. heh.

The waterfall right now does not look like this, but I am sure once the drought is over it might just get back to this ;-)

This area Emily will actually submerge herself in, but only if she is REALLY hot.

Austin Bull Creek

This is part of the creek that the dogs go to in Austin. This is where Emily loves it the most because she can touch the water but not have to full submerge into it. hahah.

Lola the Bull Terrier

I see a bull terrier puppy when I go running at town lake all the time. it is so freaking adorable. For some reason I always forget the real name of the breed and just call it the Target dog. Oops.
